Redknapp issues Modric hands off warning

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp says Luka Modric is not for sale at any price.

The Croatian midfielder has attracted interest from other clubs after playing a key role in the London club clinching a place in next season's Champions League.

But Redknapp is in no mood to lose one of his prized assets as he looks to challenge the big boys next season.

Despite talk of a £25m price tag, Redknapp said: "There's no chance of it happening at all. Luka's key to everything that's happening at this place.

SUMMER GOAL

"Everybody knows what I think of him. And if you want to move on to higher levels you don't start flogging off your best players - to anyone."

Redknapp has ruled out moves for Manchester City's Stephen Ireland or Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill.

And it appears his biggest summer goal at the moment is hanging onto that man Modric.

He added: "I have an excellent squad and - I stress - Luka Modric is going to remain a part of it."

Continuing its experiment with updates, Force India will run its own F-duct system, which gives the driver speed advantage on long straights, at the Turkish Grand Prix.

"We will be using our own version of the F-duct in practice, it's called the SRW or switchable rear wing," a Force India official said.

With this move, Force India joins several of its competitors who are toying with the system pioneered by McLaren.

The SRW is a device which allows the driver manually alter the airflow over the rear wing and thus gain a speed advantage on long straights.

Ferrari is already working on it, while Red Bull Racing is also expected to unveil F-Duct tomorrow.

Some teams in the past tried flexible wings before those were banned by FIA

Ronaldo: I'm no miracle worker

World Cup news: Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted he is no miracle worker and conceded that Portugal are not among the favourites for the World Cup.

"It's not enough to have just two or three players," he said. "For a team to win the World Cup you must not necessarily have 11 (good players) but seven or eight of a very good standard," Ronaldo was quoted in fifa.com.

"That's how you win the World Cup."

Ronaldo, who is with his Portuguese team-mates at the training camp preparing for the football's biggest event, is adamant there is no one-man show and conceded that Portugal are not among the favourites in South Africa.

"I do not play alone and I do not perform miracles," warned the Real Madrid forward. "If I and the team perform well, I think we can go as far as is possible. The squad has a great team spirit." Ronaldo added: "No, (Portugal) are not among the favourites. Other teams also want to win. Portugal has never won such a big tournament as this," the former World Player of the year added.

However, the 25-year-old is adamant that the current Portugal team is stronger as compared to the one that finished fourth at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

"We might not have as much experience but individually we can be better," he said. "But the most important thing is the group's togetherness, that the team works well. I will try to do my best, as I always do, be it for my club or country. I will be motivated," Ronaldo remarked.

Portugal are drawn in the 'Group of Death' against Brazil, Ivory Coast and North Korea and will be kicking off against the West Africans on 15 June.

Run for your lives, Maradona's naked!

World Cup News: Diego Maradona

Diego Maradona has vowed to strip naked if he guides Argentina to World Cup glory in South Africa this summer.

Argentina are among the favourites for success at the showpiece tournament despite only scraping through the South American qualification programme.

And Maradona, who lifted the trophy as captain in 1986, claims he will streak around one of Buenos Aires' most famous landmarks should Argentina end their 24-year wait for the trophy.

He told reporters: "If we win the World Cup, I'll get naked and run around the city's Obelisk."

Barcelona ace Lionel Messi will be under the spotlight this summer as he looks to transfer his club form to the international stage.

Messi was rested for the warm-up victory over Canada with Maradona unwilling to risk an untimely injury to his talented playmaker.

Maradona told Messi: "If something had happened to you in that match, I'd have been shot - you know where."

Messi helped guide Barca to another La Liga title this season, having helped them secure the UEFA Champions League the previous term and now has his sights set on further success with Argentina.

He said: "I don't feel the pressure. The truth is I'm arriving in good shape.

"I have a strong desire to do as well as I can, as do my team-mates. We want to give our best for Argentina and we hope things turn out well.

"I won't change. I'll keep playing in the same way. I hope to be able to do what I do for Barcelona in the national team without my form suffering.

"I have also won everything individually and now I would like to do the same with Argentina."
